Dubai Teen Stars on Canada's version of the Voice Kids

Dubai teenager Kellie-Anne Poirier could be the next big name in world music if her inclusion in the Canadian television version of The Voice Kids is anything to go by.

Poirier, 13, is an aspiring singer and musician who has been living and studying in the UAE since she was 6 years old.

Her blind audition will be screened on the show on October 23, and can be streamed via a network called TVA.

From Quebec city originally, Poirer started to play the guitar at the age of 7. It wasn’t until her guitar teacher told her that she had a fantastic voice that she pursued singing. "I always enjoyed singing but I didn’t realise I could actually entertain people with my voice until I got selected for the blind audition at the Voice kids,’’ says Poirer. "It was surreal and I couldn’t believe it!"

While it can’t be revealed how far Poirer gets in the popular TV talent show, she has been included in The Voice Kids tour in December, which will take in Montreal and Quebec City.

"It’s been quite an adventure," Poirer says. "Every time I was interviewed on TV, I was always excited to talk about my amazing life in Dubai!"
